This is helping with my pain. I tried gabapentin and had awful side effects
This is a purer drug and much better...
I have peripheral neuropathy and first had gabapentin, but I was transferred to Lyrica (pregabalin) when that became availalable. It works very well and makes the nights more tolerable. I had all the symptoms of the neuropathy and went half crazy with the pain and burning of my feet, in the night but none of diabetes........which was unusual. I take 150 in the morning and 300 in the evening.
I did have some side effects, dizzy, lost the ability to speak at times, and a little confused at times, but I had to have some medication for my feet and after a while the side effects settled. My life would be awful without having this medication.
I have been taking Lyrica for Fibromyalgia for 8 months. It has a larger affect on my symptoms than any previous medicine. It does not completely remove all symptoms but I don't believe such a medicine exists. I have however put on over a stone since starting the medicine.
I find Pregabalin very effective for lumbar neurogenic radiculopathy, and I do not have any side effects whatsoever.
I have been taking pregabalin for nearly 2 years now and still find it difficult to tolerate.
I still feel "spaced out" and thoughts often feel jumbled up. Stringing a sentence together can be difficult at times and I often feel confused.,
I have also gained 12lbs since I started taking it. I am still eating the same amount of food and taking regular exercise but struggling to loose those extra pounds.
I also come out in hives all over my body and have become sensitive to heat , eg hot baths or showers. I have also found that I have had to keep increasing the dose as my body gets use to the level am taking. Refuse to take more that 300 mgs a day as I was to keep as active as possible.
